Marty Anderson (May 14, 1929 - November 14, 2020) was a charter member of the Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church. Marty was a mentor, friend and spiritual guide for many at the church and to people in her life. Marty was dedicated to being a true child of God.
Throughout her life, Marty always emphasized the importance of education, and was a very vocal advocate for Adventist education. Marty sponsored numerous students in pursuit of their higher education.
In memory of Marty Anderson, the church has established The Marty Anderson Memorial Scholarship to continue her legacy of helping those in pursuit of their higher education.

Application Process
Deadline
- Applicant and/or Applicant’s legal guardian is an official member of the Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Applicants must provide proof of acceptance into an accredited junior college, trade school, college, or university.
- Applicant is or will be a registered student pursuing a vocational, associate or bachelor's degree.
- Scholarship money must be used for tuition or appropriate books and supplies.
- Applicants can receive The Marty Anderson Memorial Scholarship for up to 4 school years.
- Applicants will need to apply for The Marty Anderson Memorial Scholarship each school year that the applicant wishes to receive the scholarship.
Award Components
- The decision to award each applicant is at the discretion of the Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church Board.
- The awardee will receive $1,000 for the school year ($500 per semester) that the applicant has applied for if the applicant is or will be attending a non-Adventist educational institution.
- The awardee will receive $2,000 for the school year ($1,000 per semester) that the applicant has applied for if the applicant is or will be attending an Adventist educational institution.
- The scholarship amount will be paid directly to the educational institution by the Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Application Process
- Complete The Marty Anderson Scholarship Application and email the completed application to [email protected]
- The Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church Scholarship Committee chairperson will receive the application and redact the applicant’s name and submit the application to the church board.
- The Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church Scholarship Committee chairperson will send the redacted application to the church board.
- The Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church Board will review and vote on awarding the applicant with the scholarship.
Deadline
- Applicants can apply at the beginning of the school year (Fall Semester) or just for a Spring Semester.
- When applying for the full school year at the beginning of the Fall Semester, the application deadline is August 15.
- When applying for the Spring Semester, the application deadline is December 15.
